Song of the Night is…
06.19
Sweetback‘s Lover from their album Stage 2.
This song has a sweet, sweet sound to it… Worth $0.99 just to hear the chorus. And if you think Sweetback is one-dimensional, check out this weird l’il ditty, Voodoo Breath (Master’s Love).
Interestingly enough, you may know Sweetback from their work as Sade’s backing band…
Best Buy’s Foo Fighters Promotion is BULLSHIT!
06.16
I bought the new Foo Fighters CD, In Your Honor which I should have bought from the iTunes Music Store, but nooooooooooooooo… I decided to take advantage of a Best Buy promotion on the label of the packaging that said:
Best Buy Exclusive
Foo Fighters Download
“The Sign”
FREE
with purchase
(details inside)
…so I bring the CD home, open up the packaging, and guess what? The free song is only available on NAPSTER! WHAT THE F*CK!?!?!??!
Of course, Napster doesn’t work with the iPod, and it doesn’t use MP3s, so now instead of buying the songs through iTunes (and getting the videos that come with it on that service), I’ve got the CDs from a “brick ‘n mortar” Best Buy but feel cheated of the free track that seduced me.
Oh well… this is just whining… and the CD is good, but this is utter bullshit. Just goes to show that there’s no such thing as free (as in beer) music when dealing with unscrupulous bastards like Best Buy and Napster.
So who’s going to apologize to Michael Schiavo?
06.16
So they’ve finally received the results of the autopsy on Terry Schiavo, and it showed no signs of her having been abused prior to falling in to a coma.
When I think back on all the extreme arguments, and the extreme methods used to prolong her life, I was less troubled by the extent to which members of the government tried to use the incident, than the personal attacks on Michael Schiavo which alleged he’d abused her.
I can appreciate both sides’ arguments, but it seems there will be no retractions or apologies to Michael Schiavo from folks who wrote scathing articles that criticized him and which used second hand information to imply he was evil.
Case in point, look at this article calling for Michael Schiavo To End The Charade, or this article What Is Michael Schiavo Afraid Of? which claims he abused his wife.
I’m sure he’s no saint, but I wonder — will all these self-righteous people who sought justice for Terry Schiavo have the balls to admit they were wrong?
Or will these people be yet another group that makes it difficult for me to be proud of my faith?
