Were the Black Eyed Peas better in their pre-Fergie days?

I was checking out the Black Eyed Peas on iTunes, and after listening to both Monkey Business and an older, pre-Fergie album called Behind the Front, I believe:

I like the old Peas material better


I wouldn’t presume to say that Fergie somehow corrupted their sound, simply because Elephunk rocks, and the girl’s got talent and skillz (beyond being incredibly hot).

…but there’s something lacking from the new stuff. For an example of what I mean, check out these tracks:
