Dial-Up Hell

After contributing to the sanity of my friends Sarah and Laura by hooking them up with some wireless-G gear, I came home to find that my own internet connection was down. The DSL modem’s “DSL” light was off. Not blinking. Off. Steadily… resolutely… absolutely, completely OFF.

Not good.

So I call Speakeasy technical support, and they run a few tests. They even get a Covad support guy on the line, and the problem appears to be my modem. Apparently it just spontaneously DIED.

Great.

So now I’m reduced to using dial-up.

Dial-up sucks. And yes, I am a broadband snob!

Uhh! I can’t even imagine how horrible it would feel to be forced to use a modem again. Been on 10 mb Ethernet connection for three years, hurray for broadband!
