The Fat Tracker: 212.8

Okay, just because the experiment appears to be working, I figured I’d publicly track my weight. Yes, yes, yes, I know… I’m not fat. Those of you who are kind enough to say that get kudos for saying that. That said, prior to last year, I’d never gone above 206, and I typically hovered in the 185-195 range and did okay with that.

However…

Before I started working out again last year, my cholesterol was high (248), and my weight had crept up to 208 lbs. I could tell I was out-of-shape. It’s easy when your doctor has you on 20mg of Lipitor to achieve that level of self-awareness.

So now, I’ve been working out since mid-September and I’ve had some nice results: gained four inches in my shoulders, an inch on my neck, and lost one inch on my waist.

That said…

I’m still a chunky monkey. And I’ve figured that, despite all the workouts, I need to eat in moderation. Not necessarily change my diet radically, just don’t eat three 2000 calorie meals per day, for example. I carbo-load like a marathon runner: every day.

So this week, I’ve been cutting my face-stuffing food binges back a bit and, while I normally walk into the Greenbelt Aquatic & Fitness Center and see numbers like 215, 216, and 217 (and yes, I kissed 218 at one point recently), I’m seeing the numbers drop this week: 212.8 (may as well say 213) is the lowest I’ve been in a while, and shows that the “moderation diet” may be helping. In fact, the closest thing to what I’m doing is The No-Diet Diet.
