Confession: I’ve become a big fan of “Dexter” on Showtime over the past season…
Okay, I’ve got Barry hooked on it too, and I’ve even cajoled Sarah in to watching two episodes and she liked them. The protagonist is a serial killer who chops up his victims — who are criminals who escaped justice if that makes difference — and dumps the body parts in the ocean.
Now, granted, spewing effusive praise for ultraviolent content like this while cabbing through Philadelphia made our driver a bit nervous, but I’ll stand by my assessment — for all its flaws, the dry, sarcastic wit that oozes from the dialogue is simply too delicious for me to pass up. I find myself thinking that, for all of its flaws (such as some incredibly predictable subplots and some horribly 2-D foils amongst the supporting characters), it’s right up there with “The Office” and “30 Rock” in my book.
Perhaps it is a fitting replacement for “Heroes“, which seems to have jumped the shark, and a nice fix for me to enjoy while “Lost” and “Battlestar Galactica” are on hiatus.
And yes, I love my DVRs.
