Don’t call it a comeback…
…because Count Gore De Vol is still around, and on the internet.
It didn’t take much to entertain me as a kid. And keep in mind that I was just building up a nice foundation for my later enjoyment of Stephen King and Dean Koontz novels, okay?
If the name sounds familiar to you, I can guarantee that you’re a 30-something who lived in or near Washington D.C., and your TV antenna could pick up Channel 20 (WDCA) before it became part of a network.
Of course, the same guy was also known as Captain 20 (who did hilarious PSAs and raced monkeys to boot!), but being a fan of horror movies, I can’t count how many times I enjoyed seeing Count Gore De Vol hyping some black & white horror flick with horrible special effects, though he’s probably responsible for my exposure to Vincent Price’s “The Fly”!
