Living in the D.C. metro area, there is a new feature of Google Maps that is very useful. I was surprised to see they had quietly added a feature to peruse traffic scenarios based on historical traffic data, so that if you’re wondering if traffic sucks even worse at 5:30pm than it does at 4:45pm on Tuesdays, you can find the answer really easily.
Here are four quick screenshots to walk you through how it looks…
Click on “Traffic”…
It defaults to “Live” traffic. Click on “Change”…
Now you can set up the date and time for the historical traffic data you’d like to view. Here’s 4:45pm on Tuesdays on the Washington, D.C. Beltway.
And here’s 5:30pm on Tuesdays on the Washington, D.C. Beltway.
