Out of context

“Soon the air is filled with mosquitoes. Some are male, and they will suck nectar somewhere and we can forget about them. But with the females the story is different: they are the blood suckers. And even if they suck a milligram each, the amount will be considerable…”

** What Would Darwin Think?

I mulled that over because my first thought was, “Hey, if these guys are less interested in sex and money, they might just be removing himself from competing for females with all the alpha males!”

Upon reading the article these quotes jumped out at me…

Midori Saida, a 24-year-old woman sporting oversized aviators and her dyed brown hair in long ringlets, said “herbivore men” were “flaky and weak.”

“We like manly men,” she said. “We are not interested in those boys — at all.”

Takahito Kaji, 21, said he has been told he is “totally herbivorous.”

“Herbivorous boys are fragile, do not have a stocky body — skinny.”

Yes, the quote about stocky guys being more desirable warmed the cockles of my heart, but what I find interesting is that they associated the traits these guys were displaying with weakness, and that made them much less desirable.

Body type notwithstanding, it seems the real issue is that these guys are characterized as tepid and lacking in passion. That’s universally unappealing, regardless of one’s station in life.

That said, nothing in the article indicates these fellows are eliminating themselves from the gene pool by lopping off their man-bits because they someone told them UNIX was cool, only that they aren’t all fired up to have their homes featured on MTV Cribs while they sip Cristal by the pool while hanging with callipygian hotties.

Tangential Thought: Damn! I need to go back to my studio and start laying down some more hip-hop tracks!

In any event, I’m suddenly feeling the need to BBQ… :-)

Why do we need to explore space when we have so many problems here on Earth?

For example, we try to drill for oil (echoes of “Drill, baby, drill!“) and we have alien creatures floating around our drilling platforms.

Obviously, we should take NASA‘s budget and use it to deal with the alien menace in our oceans! Then we can go to Mars
